Studied geography at the Leibniz University of Hannover, specialisation: economic and urban geography: semester abroad at Universidade de Lisboa. Graduate student at the Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH), department for urban economics. Gained his doctorate in economics at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.
