STARTUP is a research and innovation project funded by the EU's Horizon New European Bauhaus (NEB) research funding programme. Together with European partners, the project develops insights into the role of cultural heritage and cultural and creative industries in urban development.
The transdisciplinary research project analyses different approaches and initiatives to promote social and cultural innovation and creative milieus from a local, bottom-up perspective. Part of the research project is the concrete experimental testing of urban interventions in Dortmund and the Ruhr region and the generation of insights for an urban development policy that follows the core values of the NEB: sustainability, aesthetics and inclusivity. ILS Research works together with 'Die Urbanisten e.V.', Dortmund.
The project consortium includes academic partners, practitioners and socio-cultural actors from eight European countries with expertise in urban sociology, architecture, spatial planning, geography, economics, design, art and culture.
