Research projects
Client: | Federal Environment Agency |
Partner(s): | German Institute of Urban Affairs (Difu), Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER) |
Time frame: | 07/2023 – 09/2026 |
It is a central goal of the Federal Government to make the construction and housing of the future affordable, climate-neutral, sustainable, accessible, innovative and with vibrant public spaces. They must therefore be in line with the goals of socially and environmentally compatible urban development on the one hand and, on the other, give priority to the continued use and conversion of existing buildings when creating housing, avoid additional land consumption and contribute to achieving climate protection targets. Good solutions must be found for this, e.g. for potential area registers, for reliable construction, housing costs and climate checks (comparing existing and new buildings) and how these can be introduced. The aim of the project is to develop recommendations for action for the relevant stakeholders that combine the objectives of housing development with those of internal development in the sense of ecological, social, space-saving and climate-adapted settlement development.
