Evaluation of subsidized collaborative housing projects
Client: | Ministry of Regional Identity, Local Government, Building and Digitalization of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (MHKBD NRW) |
Time frame: | 02/2022 – 12/2023 |
In North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) there is a rich landscape of collaborative housing projects. The aim of this research project was to gain an overview of the characteristics of collaborative housing projects realized in NRW in the past decade. Moreover, one of the objectives was to examine the potentials of these projects, such as the establishment of neighbourhood networks and their possible impulses for housing policies, eco-friendly practices and urban design. To accomplish these objectives, a thorough desk research, as well as interviews with investors, project developers, and representatives of municipalities, were conducted. The interviews provided insights into the motivation, success factors and impact dimensions of collaborative housing projects. Additionally, households living in housing projects were able to participate in an online survey. The characteristics and qualities of selected projects were examined in depth. The results of the research project will be made available through a documentation (online, PDF).
