Scientific Workshop and Special Issue „Accessibility: Its Role in the Sustainable Transformation of Cities“
16. und 17. November 2017
ILS Dortmund, Brüderweg 22-24 44135 Dortmund
The workshop focusses on the presentation and discussion of empirical results, concepts and methods and finally intends to collect contributions for a special issue in a peer-reviewed journal.
Accessibility is one of many prerequisits for equal participation in society. Dynamic changes in framework conditions – such as population growth or shrinkage and its aging, expected shortage and price increase of fossil fuels or obligations to comply with climate protection targets-, call for a sustainable transformation of our cities. Within these, local accessibility is a key indicator for sustainable transport planning and is therefore an important topic in the discussion.
With regard to the empirical illustration of accessibility, a research gab remains concerning the different indicators of measurement as well as the subjective perception of accessibility.
